The National Film Awards honour the best Indian films certified by the CBFC in 2024 across feature films, non-feature films and writing on cinema.

The winners of the 72nd National Film Awards were announced in New Delhi on Saturday (July 18), recognising excellence in Indian cinema across feature films, non-feature films and writing on cinema. The awards honoured films certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) between January 1 and December 31, 2024.

The announcement was streamed live by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting through its official digital platforms. The 11-member jury was chaired by filmmaker Jayaraj.

Article 370 emerged as the biggest winner, taking home the Best Feature Film award, while Kartik Aaryan (Chandu Champion) and Mammootty (Bramayugam) shared the Best Actor honour. Yami Gautam won Best Actress for Article 370, and Rajkumar Periasamy was named Best Director for Amaran.
