The trailer for Aasha, the new Malayalam-language mystery thriller starring Urvashi, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Joju George, was released on September 8, sharing a glimpse of the thriller's plot.

Directed and written by Safar Sanal, Aasha is based on an original story by Sanal, along with Joju George and Ramesh Girija, who worked with him on the dialogues. The film will be released in theatres on September 11.

The trailer follows veteran actor Urvashi and her daughter, played by Aishwarya Lekshmi, as they find themselves tangled in a legal case following a road accident. The mother-daughter duo are set to face Joju George's character, a gruff, short-tempered man who vows to defeat them.

Aasha is expected to follow this unexpected accident and the chain of events that follows, with Urvashi and Joju George's characters in direct conflict at the heart of the story. Vijayaraghavan plays a key supporting role, along with Joy Mathew, Bhagyalakshmi and Kottayam Ramesh.

Urvashi's Aasha is described in the trailer as a stubborn, vengeful independent woman who refuses to be pushed around by anyone.

Aasha is directed by Safar Sanal in his feature directorial debut. The screenplay and dialogues are co-written by Joju George, Ramesh Girija and Safar Sanal, a notable arrangement where two of the film's actors are also credited as co-writers.

The film is produced by Vinayaka Ajith under the Ajith Vinayaka Films banner, which previously produced Ponman (2023) and Masthishka Maranam (2026). Music is composed by Govind Vasantha and Midhun Mukundhan, cinematography is by Madhu Neelakandan, editing is by Shan Muhammed.

Sanal had previously co-written the screenplay for Peace (2022), a Malayalam black comedy directed by Sanfeer K and starring Joju George and Asha Sharath.

Urvashi's latest outings include Parimala and Co (2026) and Prince and Family (2025), and will soon be seen in Mookuthi Amman 2, Visitor and Oru Police Kaarante Maranam, which are currently in various stages of production.

Aasha comes to theatres on September 11.
