Akshay Kumar reunites with director Neeraj Pandey after more than a decade for a special appearance in a grand biopic on legendary composer R.D. Burman, led by Farhan Akhtar. The film, jointly produced by Pandey’s banner and Excel Entertainment, is in extensive pre-production with music sittings underway to recreate Burman’s timeless legacy and assemble a major ensemble cast.

Akshay Kumar and Neeraj Pandey are all set to join forces once again after over a decade. After collaborating on two memorable projects: Special 26 (2013) and Baby (2015), the actor-director duo is back for something new.

According to Pinkvilla, Kumar will be making a special appearance in Pandey's next venture—a bold biopic on the legendary Indian singer and music director R.D. Burman, headlined by Farhan Akhtar.

According to the portal’s sources, the actor immediately agreed to the project after hearing about the role. While information regarding the film has been kept secret, Kumar's character is said to add immense value to the narrative.

"Akshay and Neeraj share immense mutual respect, and it didn't take much convincing for the actor to say yes. The moment Neeraj narrated the role, Akshay agreed to be a part of the film. It's a special appearance, but one that carries a lot of weight in the story," a source revealed.

"The team has already begun extensive pre-production, with music sittings currently underway to recreate and celebrate Burman's timeless legacy. The film will feature a large ensemble cast, and several prominent names are expected to join the project in key roles over the coming weeks," it added further.

Kumar and Pandey last worked together in Baby, a film that went on to be regarded as one of Hindi cinema's standout action-thrillers. Prior to that, they teamed up for the widely praised Special 26, cementing Kumar and Pandey as one of Bollywood's most loved actor-director duos.

The R.D. Burman biopic is jointly produced by Pandey's banner and Excel Entertainment. While details about Kumar's character are being kept under wraps, the film is said to be mounted on a grand scale and is expected to go on floors in September.
