A.R. Rahman has launched ARR Immersive, a new app for Apple Vision Pro that showcases a decade of his work in a deeply immersive format. The app features a re-edited spatial version of his 360° VR film Le Musk, exclusive Kathak performances blending Western and Indian classical traditions, and an ARR Live section with concert footage, with more content in development.

Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman has launched ARR Immersive, an app for Apple Vision Pro, set to go live on July 22. The app brings together content from Rahman's decades of work in an immersive format, such as material from Le Musk, his 360° VR film that premiered at the Cannes XR Festival. The app is available on the Apple App Store and will be coming soon to Meta Quest.

The app includes exclusive content from Le Musk, making its Apple Vision Pro debut in a version re-edited for Apple Vision Pro's spatial viewing format. It also features original content created specifically for the app, such as three Kathak dance performances that combine Western classical compositions with Indian classical dance, performed by Pranith AP, Palak Chauhan and Mudra IV, with choreography by Shrita Baskar.

A third section, titled ARR Live, is dedicated to Rahman's concert performances. The makers have shared that additional content is currently in production for future releases.

Speaking about the app, Rahman said, “For me, music has always been more than something we hear, it is something we feel emotionally. Technology now allows us to experience stories and music in ways that were unimaginable just a few years ago.”

“With the ARR Immersive App, we wanted to create a space where audiences don't simply watch a performance or listen to a composition, they feel present within it. This is about bringing together music, storytelling and innovation to create experiences that are deeply personal, emotionally engaging and truly immersive. I believe this is an exciting new canvas for creators, and this is only the beginning."

The Oscar-winning music composer was awarded the Academy of Achievement Award in Washington, D.C. on June 24. In June, he also joined Aamir Khan, Ashutosh Gowariker and Javed Akhtar at Spotify’s first-ever live recording of ‘Behind the Beats’, the event that celebrated 25 years of Lagaan and the film's renowned soundtrack.

A two-time winner and five-time nominee of the Academy Award, he recently composed some of the most widely-acclaimed film soundtracks this year such as Main Vaapas Aaunga and Peddi.

His work will also be featured in Mani Ratnam's upcoming, still untitled, film that brings together Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi for the first time on screen, and in Nitesh Tiwari's upcoming mythological epic Ramayana, where he is composing the soundtrack alongside Hollywood legend Hans Zimmer.

The ARR Immersive App will be available on Apple App Store for Apple Vision Pro from July 22 and will soon be available on Meta Quest.
