The teaser for Baththa introduces Vijay Sethupathi as a feared yet fearless figure, seen through the eyes of multiple characters in a vintage-styled action thriller. The teaser for Vijay Sethupathi and Lijo Mol’s Baththa was recently released, offering audiences a glimpse into its characters. Throughout the video, we explore Sethupathi's character through the perspective of various players in this vintage actioner.
"Everyone fears him, but he fears no one," we're told, as we're given a run-through of important characters in tightly-cut shots, including Lijo Mol, who plays Sethupathi's wife in the film.
Directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan, the film is produced by Murad Khetani, Priya Atlee, Alok Jain and Ajit Andhare, and presented by Tamil filmmaker Atlee.
Music for the film is by Sai Abhyankkar, whose recent musicals include RJ Balaji's Karuppu (2026) and the Tamil action comedy, Dude (2025). The film's technical team also comprises Selva Kumar S.K as director of photography, R.Kalaivanan as editor and production designer T. Muthuraj.
Baththa marks the third collaboration between Sethupathi and director Balaji Tharaneetharan. Their previous projects together are Tharaneetharan's debut directorial Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom (2012), and Seethakaathi (2018).
Vijay Sethupathi's recent outings include Gandhi Talks (2026) and Thalaivan Thalaivii (2025). He was also recently seen in the Tamil action drama series Kaattaan, directed by B. Ajithkumar and M. Manikandan. His upcoming productions include Mysskin's Train, Jailer 2, and Slum Dog.
Balaji Tharaneetharan's last directorial release was Oru Pakka Kathai (2020), starring Kalidas Jayaram and Megha Akash.
Atlee's previously directed Jawan (2023), the Shah Rukh Khan action film that became one of the highest-grossing Indian films ever made. He is also known for his directorials like Bigil (2019), Mersal (2017), Theri (2016) and Raja Rani (2013).
Baththa will be released in theatres on October 1, 2026
