Bhumi Pednekkar and Akshay Kumar reunite for Priyadarshan's upcoming comedy thriller, marking their ninth collaboration. The film, set to roll by December, introduces a new genre in Priyadarshan's filmography, blending fun and thrills.
Four years after their 2022 film Raksha Bandhan, Bhumi Pednekkar and Akshay Kumar will reunite for Priyadarshan's next. The director exclusively told Hindustan Times that Penekkar will be playing the leading lady in his upcoming comedy thriller.
The news of the Priyadarshan joining forces with Kumar broke earlier this year in July, marking their ninth collaboration together.
At the time of the announcement, a source close to the director had revealed to Mid-Day that "Priyadarshan has written the story, which is a combination of fun and thrills. The film will roll by the year-end, most likely in December."
The source added that the film will introduce a new genre in Priyadarshan’s vast filmography. “Akki (Akshay Kumar) and he are excited about the project because though he has attempted comedies and thrillers in the past, (and) he feels this belongs to a genre that he hasn't attempted before. He will develop the screenplay with Rohan Shankar, who also worked on Bhooth Bangla."
Earlier this year, the duo worked together on the psychological thriller Haiwaan, which also starred Saif Ali Khan in the lead role. Kumar's upcoming projects also includes Anees Bazmee’s yet-untitled comedy film alongside Vidya Balan.
As for Pednekkar, who was last seen in the crime-thriller series Daldal, the actor is set to star in Sandeep Singh’s The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and Danish Aslam’s romantic comedy Adhure Hum Adhure Tum alongside Imran Khan and Gurfateh Pirzada.
