"Pyaar mein thoda pagal toh hona hi padta hai (you have to be a little crazy in love)," insists a voice in Chand Mera Dil, a new romantic drama starring Lakshya and Ananya Panday. The upcoming film, backed by Karan Johar's Dharma Movies, follows the headlong romance of two people, Aarav and Chandni, from its gushing highs to maddening lows.
A brash, tumultuous love story full of urgent smooching, Chand Mera Dil is written by Vivek Soni and Tushar Pranjape, from an original story by Soni. The film's music is composed by Sachin-Jigar. The title track, voiced by Saiyaara sensation Faheem Abdulla, features prominently in the teaser. Amitabh Bhattacharya has penned the lyrics.
Chand Mera Dil is set to release in cinemas on May 22. Soni made his directorial debut with Meenakshi Sundareshwar, starring Sanya Malhotra and Abhimanyu Dasani, and followed it up with last year's Aap Jaisa Koi, led by R Madhavan and Fatima Sana Shaikh. While his last two films were Netflix outings, this will be Soni's first theatrical release.
"Not every first love gets a second chance. Come witness Aarav & Chandni’s road to love! Chand Mera Dil - TEASER OUT NOW! In cinemas 22nd May, worldwide," Soni wrote on Instagram, sharing the teaser.
Panday was last seen in Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri opposite Kartik Aaryan. Lakshya, meanwhile, made his acting debut in the violent actioner Kill. Both films were backed by Karan Johar.
More recently, Lakshya was seen in the central role in the Netflix series The Ba***ds of Bollywood. The satirical show marked the directorial debut of Shah Rukh Khan's son, Aryan Khan and featured Lakshya as an ambitious outsider navigating the chaotic, larger-than-life, yet uncertain world of Bollywood. The Ba***ds of Bollywood also starred Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, Sahher Bambba and Manoj Pahwa.
