Maddock Films has unveiled the trailer of Cocktail 2, a June 19 theatrical release that revives Homi Adajania’s 2012 franchise with Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna. Centered on Kunal, Diya and Ally, the film explores messy modern relationships where friendship, attraction and emotional baggage collide, backed by Pritam’s music and a mix of humour, romance and drama.
Maddock Films has released the trailer for Cocktail 2, the upcoming romantic drama directed by Homi Adajania and starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna. The film marks a return of the Cocktail franchise, which began with the 2012 film directed by Adajania and produced by Dinesh Vijan.
The trailer introduces three central characters — Kunal, Diya and Ally — and focuses on their friendship, entanglements and personal conflicts. Set against a contemporary backdrop, the trailer features moments of romance, humour and emotional tension, while also highlighting the film's music, composed by Pritam. The trailer hints that the film will explore the complexities of modern relationships and the challenges that emerge when friendship and attraction intersect.
Speaking about the film, Shahid Kapoor said in a statement, “Cocktail 2 is what summer feels like. It has madness, emotion, humour, romance and a lot of heart.” Kriti Sanon described the film as a contemporary take on relationships, adding that its characters are “beautifully flawed” and that the story examines friendship and love through a modern lens. Rashmika Mandanna added, “Cocktail 2 feels like a beautiful mix of love, friendship and all the emotions that come with figuring life out.”
Producer Dinesh Vijan commented that the project brings together several notable storytellers. He noted his partnership with writer-producer Luv Ranjan, who serves as the writer, producer, and creative lead of the film, and also highlighted his longstanding professional relationship with director Homi Adajania.
Ranjan said Cocktail 2 examines how people navigate friendship, attraction, expectations and emotional baggage, while Adajania described the film as “funny, messy, emotional and a little reckless.”
Cocktail 2 is a production by Maddock Films and Luv Films, and is produced by Dinesh Vijan, Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg. The film is written by Tarun Jain and Luv Ranjan, and directed by Homi Adajania. It releases in cinemas worldwide on June 19.
