Prominent production designer Saini S. Johray, behind the blockbuster Dhurandhar franchise, has been accused of sexual harassment. An FIR was officially registered by the Chandigarh Police at the Sector-17 police station following a formal complaint filed by a former crew member.

Following the filing, Johray successfully secured anticipatory bail from a local district court, according to an India Today report.

Johray—whose extensive portfolio includes his work on Dhurandhar 1 and 2, as well as Raj & DK’s acclaimed streaming series The Family Man—allegedly targeted a young woman who had recently joined his department.

According to the police filing, the complainant was a student at a local government college when a faculty member forwarded her resume to the project's art department. She was subsequently hired as an assistant art director on September 2, 2025.

The complainant stated that Johray established professional trust early on, introducing himself as an industry mentor and noting his background as an alumnus of the Delhi College of Art.

However, within days of joining the production, the woman alleged that Johray requested her presence at the Taj Hotel in Chandigarh’s Sector 17 for what was explicitly framed as a "professional discussion." While she arrived under the impression that she was attending a broader department meeting, she quickly realised that no other members of the crew had been invited.

The FIR further states that Johray repeatedly instructed her to keep the meeting strictly confidential, allegedly warning that disclosing it could permanently damage her professional reputation.

According to her official statement, Johray then pressured her into consuming alcohol, insisting she finish a combined mixture of wine and rum in a single turn despite her reluctance. The woman alleged that she began experiencing severe dizziness within minutes of drinking the beverage, pointing to a potential intoxicating substance mixed into the drink.

"Although she repeatedly expressed her desire to leave, she alleged that Johray prevented her from doing so and engaged in inappropriate physical contact while offering to teach her bachata dance. She claimed he forcibly pulled her close and made unwelcome advances and eventually forced her onto a bed, compelling her to stay in the hotel room overnight," the report stated.

The victim stated that she was left physically weakened, frightened, and under profound mental distress throughout the night. She was able to exit the hotel premises only the following morning, returning home via a bike taxi. Furthermore, the woman also accused Johray of continuing to harass her afterwards by filing complaints against her, which she claimed caused further mental distress, the report read.

Police investigation into the matter remains ongoing. Johray has not yet released a public statement regarding the ongoing legal proceedings or the allegations leveled against him.
