Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Ghamasaan, a Zee 5 original led by Arshad Warsi and Pratik Gandhi, pits a fearless IPS officer against a dreaded dacoit in the Hindi heartland. It’s a showdown between a hunter and an outlaw. Zee 5 on Friday unveiled the teaser for its upcoming original film Ghamasaan—an intense action drama directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia and headlined by Arshad Warsi and Pratik Gandhi.
The film arrives on the streaming platform following an acclaimed festival run, having screened at the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, the Cinevesture International Film Festival, and the 16th Chicago South Asian Film Festival. Produced by Jio Studios and Golden Ratio Films, Ghamasaan is slated to premiere on ZEE5 later this year.
Set against the rugged backdrop of the Hindi heartland, Ghamasaan follows Aditya (Pratik Gandhi), a fearless IPS officer determined to bring down the dreaded dacoit Maharaj (Arshad Warsi). As he takes on a system riddled with corruption and moral ambiguity, the film unfolds into a "high-stakes battle of power, justice, and survival," a note from the makers read.
“I have always been drawn to stories from the Hindi heartland that explore power, loyalty, and the complexities of human relationships," Dhulia tells The Hollywood Reporter India. "With Ghamasaan, we wanted to tell a gripping cat-and-mouse story that goes beyond crime and conflict to delve into the emotions, rivalries, and unspoken tensions that shape its characters."
The filmmaker, whose seminal filmography includes Paan Singh Tomar, Haasil, and the Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster franchise, noted that his latest aims to subvert standard regional crime tropes.
"Set against a stark and evocative landscape, the film pushes the boundaries of the genre while staying rooted in the world and storytelling tradition I love," Dhulia added. "It’s intense, layered, and filled with characters who exist in shades of grey, and I’m excited for audiences to experience it."
