Filmmaker David Dhawan is back with Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde, Mrunal Thakur and —surprisingly —two AI babies in the first look from his comedy Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. Production house Tips Films released the minute-long teaser, which gives a glimpse into the world of the film.
The first look attempts to follow the David Dhawan style of comedy, romance and chaos, while revealing the premise through a quirky set-up from the perspective of two AI-generated toddlers. The teaser is set to the recreated version of the popular chartbuster 'Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai' from David Dhawan's Biwi No 1.
The Ramesh Taurani-produced film is described as a ‘Double trouble love story’ at the end of the teaser, and is David Dhawan’s 46th directorial project to the big screen following Coolie No.1, which was a remake of his original 1995 film.
This film marks the fourth film featuring the Dhawan Duo, after delivering fan favourites like Main Tera Hero, Judwaa 2 and Coolie No.1.
The makers also confirmed their new release date of May 22, which is three weeks earlier than the previously revised date of June 12. Originally, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai was arriving in cinemas on June 4 but the makers pushed it by a week to avoid unhealthy competition in the industry as Yash-led Toxic had booked the release date after vacating the March 19 spot due to the Middle East crisis.
On the film front, Varun Dhawan was last seen in Border 2, released earlier this year while Mrunal is currently seen in Dacoit. Headlined by Adivi Sesh, the romantic-actioner released in cinemas last weekend and also features Anurag Kashyap. Pooja, meanwhile, was last seen on the big screen in a special appearance in megastar Rajnikanth-led Coolie last year and will next be seen in superstar Vijay's Jana Nayagan, when it releases later this year.
