Imtiaz Ali is reuniting with Sharvari and Vedang Raina for an untitled romantic drama that enters its final pre-production phase ahead of a November shoot. The Main Vaapas Aaunga trio will begin principal photography once production planning and location visits conclude. Ali calls the film a “return gift” to audiences, with the plot tightly under wraps until filming starts.
The Main Vaapas Aaunga team—Imtiaz Ali, Sharvari and Vedang Raina— are reuniting. The filmmaker has reportedly locked his next directorial venture, billed as an untitled romantic-drama that is set to go on floors this November.
According to Pinkvilla, the film is now entering its final pre-production phase, with the makers looking to begin principal photography in November with Sharvari and Vedang.
A source revealed to the media platform that the film has completed all significant groundwork and the screenplay has been finalised after multiple rounds of development. With the film's casting finalised as well, the team has now shifted focus to production planning, schedule and location recce.
"The intention is to take the film on the floors in November, and everyone involved is excited about bringing this story to life. Sharvari and Vedang fit the world of the film perfectly, and the makers are confident about the pairing," a source told Pinkvilla.
In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India at the Nilaya Monsoon Film Festival, Imtiaz said that he wants his next title to feel like "a return gift" to the audience, expressing that he received a lot from them after Main Vaapas Aaunga, and wishes to make a film his audience will love.
The project's plot is still being kept under wraps and an official announcement revealing its first look and title will likely be revealed once production begins. Prior to Main Vaapas Aaunga, Vedang was last seen alongside Alia Bhatt in Jigra (2024), while Sharvari most recently appeared in Alpa, also starring alongside Bhatt, which released earlier this month on July 3.
