Tamil actor Karthi's 30th film will co-star Meenakshi Chaudhary. The announcement was made on X. "Wishing the ever-energetic and lovable @Karthi_Offl a very Happy Birthday Excited to bring him to audiences in a brand new entertainer you never saw coming #Karthi30 shoot is progressing in full swing Title & First Look coming soon #HappyBirthdayKarthi," the makers wrote on X.
The film will be directed by Kalyan Shankar, known for the Mad film series in Telugu.
The film marks Karthi's first collaboration with Meenakshi Chaudhary, who was last seen with Naveen Polishetty in Anaganaga Oka Raja. Karthi was last seen in Nalan Kumarasamy's Vaa Vaathiyar (2026).
Karthi will also be seen in Sardar 2, a sequel to PS Mithran's film. The film marks actor Karthi’s return in his dual roles as the Indian spy Sardar and his son, Inspector Vijay Prakash. However, this time, he will face a powerful adversary—SJ Suryah’s character, ominously titled ‘Black Dagger.’
Opening with an intense action sequence set in a Japanese monastery, the teaser of Sardar 2 features Karthi’s character wielding a katana, taking on a warlord and his men. The tension escalates as SJ Suryah’s antagonist is introduced, setting the stage for a clash between Sardar and Black Dagger. The teaser hints at a gripping espionage narrative, with Sardar racing against time to prevent a catastrophic war against India.
The film also stars Rajisha Vijayan, Malavika Mohanan, Ashika Ranganath and Sajol Ahamed in pivotal roles. Sam CS returns as the composer, while George C Williams is handling cinematography. Backed by Prince Pictures and IVY Entertainment, Sardar 2 promises a high-octane cinematic experience, with a theatrical release expected later this year. Makers of Sardar 2 also dropped a new poster with the actor on X, marking his birthday on May 25.
