Soori's Mandaadi, his upcoming film co-starring actor Suhas, is in its final stages of filming. The actor announced on X, marking the occasion of Tamil New Year, and also released a new poster from the film, which sees him in the thick of the choppy sea. "Wishing everyone a Happy Tamil New Year — our grand sea-based action drama #Mandaadi is in its final stage of shooting. Exciting updates coming soon !!! #Mandaadi," he wrote.

Directed by Mathimaran Pugazhenthi, the film will be released in Tamil and Telugu. Reports initially suggested that the Tamil version of Mandaadi will feature Soori as the lead and Suhas as the antagonist, with the Telugu film flipping the casting for the two roles. But Suhas promptly clarified on X that he would be playing the antagonist in both films.

"Jallikattu happens on land, but boat racing happens at sea," Soori said at the film’s launch event, adding that the film speaks about the bravery of the Tamil fishing communities who indulge in this sport.

Tamil filmmaker Vetri Maaran will serve as the executive producer on the film, which will be produced by Elred Kumar’s RS Infotainment banner.

The film will mark Suhas’s debut in Tamil cinema. The actor is known for his performances in several Telugu films, including HIT: The Second Case (2022), Colour Photo (2020), and Ambajipetta Marriage Band (2024), among others. Soori, on the other hand, was last seen in Maaman (2025), RS Durai Senthilkumar's Garudan (2024), as a loyal friend pulled into a world of cutthroat debauchery, and as the righteous cop in Vetri Maaran’s Viduthalai Part 2 (2024).

Mandaadi also stars Mahima Nambiar, Sathyaraj, Ravindra Vijay, and Achyuth Kumar in key roles. The film will have music by GV Prakash Kumar and camerawork by SR Kathir. Soori will next be seen in a film directed by R Ravikumar, who made Ayalaan. Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar of Mythri Movie Makers will produce the film. The announcement arrived with an intense poster, in which the protagonist is in the middle of a trail of wreckage- shattered utensils, scattered debris, and an overturned gas cylinder, capturing the raw aftermath of destruction.
