Marvel Television has announced 'Zodiac,' a live-action spy thriller set to debut on Disney+ in 2028. Filming begins in London this spring, with casting starting soon. The series marks Marvel's first new live-action project since 'Ironheart' and follows a period of cancellations, leaving fans eager for details on how it ties into the broader MCU.
Marvel Television has announced Zodiac, a live-action spy thriller set to stream on Disney+ in 2028. The first logo for the series was unveiled at the New York Comic-Con panel, where Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaum shared the production timeline.
Winderbaum said filming will begin in London in the spring, while casting is expected to start over the next couple of weeks. However, there are no details on the plot yet, leaving the logo as the only concrete look at the project so far.
Zodiac is the first new live-action series Marvel has announced since Ironheart, which premiered last year. The announcement follows a stretch of cancellations and endings on the television side. Wonder Man was cancelled a few months after premiering in January, despite a second-season renewal and an Emmy nomination for lead actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. The series was critically well received, and the nomination made Abdul-Mateen II the first live-action actor to be recognised by the Emmys for both a Marvel and a DC series, following HBO’s Watchmen.
The 2028 date places the series roughly two years out, leaving ample room between the start of casting and the eventual launch. Marvel Television, led by Winderbaum, oversees the studio's streaming slate for Disney+, where Zodiac will join an existing catalogue of live-action and animated titles.
Spy thrillers are not new territory for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has previously folded espionage into films such as Captain America: The Winter Soldier and series such as Secret Invasion. Marvel has yet to say how Zodiac will tie into the wider franchise, or when further details on casting and the creative team will follow.
Separately, Daredevil: Born Again is set to conclude with Season 3 next year. The series revived Charlie Cox’s street-level hero, who first appeared in Netflix’s Daredevil. The final season is expected to bring together the Netflix Defenders heroes, including Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage and Finn Jones as Iron Fist.
VisionQuest, meanwhile, premieres on 14 October and closes the trilogy that began with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along. Paul Bettany returns as Vision, who has been lying low and communicating with other AI androids, including Ultron, J.A.R.V.I.S. and F.R.I.D.A.Y.
