Nagarjuna Akkineni has confirmed that his son Akhil Akkineni’s new film Lenin will hit theatres on June 26, 2026. Sharing that he watched the first cut, Nagarjuna promised audiences a “new Akhil” and urged fans to mark the date. The Murali Kishor Abburu-directed film co-stars Bhagyashri Borse and marks Akhil’s big-screen return after Agent (2023).
Telugu star Nagarjuna Akkineni recently confirmed that his younger son Akhil Akkineni's upcoming film Lenin will be released on June 26. "Watched the first cut of our film LENIN last night. I say this with confidence and pride… you are about to witness a new AKHIL on June 26 2026. Mark the date!!! See you in the theatres," Nagarjuna wrote on X.
Directed by Murali Kishor Abburu, Lenin co-stars Akhil and Bhagyashri Borse, and marks the actor's return to the big screen after Agent (2023). Borse was last seen in Andhra King Taluka and Kaantha, both films that were released last year.
Akhil Akkineni tied the knot with his fiancée Zainab Ravdjee on June 6 last year. The duo got married in a traditional Telugu wedding ceremony at Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad, among family and friends.
It was also recently announced that actress Tabu has joined the filming of Nagarjuna Akkineni's landmark 100th film, which is tentatively titled 'King 100'. The actress made this announcement on social media. "And we begin with the #King100 #Nagarjuna @annapurnastudios," she wrote. The upcoming film will be directed by Ra Karthik, who recently directed Priyanka Arul Mohan in the Netflix film Made In Korea.
The duo, who was seen in 1996 blockbuster Ninne Pelladata, last shared screen space in the 1998 film Aavida Maa Aavide. In an earlier interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Nagarjuna said it was a fantastic time for the movies today.
"It is also a good time for new talents and storytelling. You can go anywhere you like and you will find an audience. You can watch a film in a foreign language and also connect with it. This has been happening a lot post-pandemic. Look what happened to Indian cinema, and specifically Telugu cinema; it has gone all over the world. It is not only entertaining the masses in India, but it is entertaining the masses elsewhere also. I am also watching Mexican, Korean, and South American films here and I am absolutely enjoying them. It truly is a fantastic time for filmmaking," the actor said.
