Yami Gautam Dhar is a mysterious bride and more in the trailer for Nayyi Navelli. The supernatural comedy is produced by Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma, directed by Balaji Mohan. It is backed by Amazon MGM Studios and Colour Yellow, written by Himanshu Sharma and Divy Nidhi Sharma, with music by GV Prakash Kumar.
Nayyi Navelli’s trailer was released on Wednesday by Amazon MGM Studios and Colour Yellow. It opens with Gautam Dhar's character, Mohini, entering the Awasthi family home in Meerut after her marriage. She cooks, wins over the family and appears to fit in easily. In an early scene, her brother-in-law asks her to show her feet and check whether her footprint is straight. The film's logline says the brother-in-law suspects she may be a “daayan”, or witch. This is confirmed as Mohini reveals her true self to the family. The trailer combines family drama, humour, mystery and action. A final twist elevates the stakes to epic proportions.
Nikhil Madhok, director and head of SVOD Originals, Prime Video India and Amazon MGM Studios stated that Nayyi Navelli is a perfect Dussehra film.
“Yami Gautam Dhar is brilliant and the talented ensemble cast has done a great job. This is our first collaboration with Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma; and they have created a remarkable movie. At Amazon MGM Studios, along with our partners at Colour Yellow, we are confident that Nayyi Navelli will be the first choice of entertainment for family audiences this Dusshera.“
Nayyi Navelli also marks the Hindi directorial debut of Tamil filmmaker Balaji Mohan, known for films like Maari, Maari 2 and the Tamil web-show As I'm Suffering From Kadhal.
Gautam Dhar’s last release before Nayyi Navelli was a cameo in Dhurandhar: The Revenge, directed by her husband Aditya Dhar. Her character’s name, Shazia Bano, was the same name in Haq.
Nayyi Navelli‘s teaser was released on September 10. The first song, "Bhabhi Tabaahi," has also been out. The film is the first collaboration between Amazon MGM Studios, Gautam Dhar and Rai.
Nayyi Navelli arrives in cinemas on October 16, 2026, ahead of Dussehra, in the same window as Drishyam: The Conclusion and Jailer 2.
