In Ram Charan and Buchi Babu Sana's upcoming film Peddi, the Telugu superstar isn't just a deity on the playground (he plays cricket, wrestles, and runs with expertise), but also a deity on the battlefield. The trailer of the Telugu film, launched at an event in Mumbai on May 18, portrays the Telugu actor as a crossover athlete who faces off against Divyendu Sharma's antagonist.
Co-starring Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, and Jagapathi Babu, the film is written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana. The film has music by AR Rahman and camerawork by Rathnavelu.
It was recently announced that Hombale Films will begin its overseas distribution journey with the Ram Charan film. In an exclusive interaction with The Hollywood Reporter India, Chaluve Gowda, co-founder and partner at Hombale Films, told us why Ram Charan's anticipated Telugu drama was apt to begin their overseas venture.

"Peddi felt like the perfect film to begin this journey because it combines rooted storytelling, scale and powerful cinematic emotion that can connect with audiences across the world.”
Produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under Vriddhi Cinemas, in collaboration with Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings, the film will release worldwide on June 4.
Speaking at the trailer launch event, Ram Charan, as quoted by Indian Express, said, “There was a huge spiritual journey behind this film. Physically too, it was very challenging. Thanks to Salman Khan and Aamir Khan for paving the path for us with movies like Sultan and Dangal. Those films gave us so much confidence, so thanks to both of them for starting this journey. We believed this genre had worked in the past, and we followed the same route. The transformation was inevitable. It had to be done because it is part of the story.”
