Anand Shankar’s Power House reunites Chiyaan Vikram with the director nearly a decade after Iru Mugan, unveiling a teaser where a warm family-run catering service masks a brutal secret life. Vikram’s character shifts from an affectionate brother and dutiful son to a ruthless tormentor of bleeding thugs, hinting at a chef-gangster double identity in a stylish commercial thriller.
Chiyaan Vikram's next film with director Anand Shankar finally got a title and a surprise teaser over the weekend. Titled Power House, the film will feature Vikram as a man living a dangerous double life.
The teaser opens with a sequence of domestic bliss. The employees of the family-run Nalla Thambi Catering Service are busy at work ahead of a gig. Vikram, who runs the catering company, is seen sharing a sweet moment with his sister (Riya Shibu) and the matriarch (Urvashi). But just before the moment concludes, Vikram opens a door to a house of bloody horrors.
As he leads the way for us to find out about his double life, we see the remnants of his secrets - bleeding thugs tied to chairs. "I've just started cooking. I'll let you leave only with a full meal. 100 per cent guarantee," says Vikram, an observation perhaps made for audiences of commercial cinema waiting to watch the film.
The film also marks Vikram’s reunion with director Anand Shankar nearly a decade after their 2016 sci-fi action thriller Iru Mugan. The film was officially announced earlier this year with a stylised promo that introduced Vikram as a chef who appears to be hunted by a gang. However, a voiceover conversation hinted at a darker twist, revealing that the seemingly ordinary chef may actually be a gangster. Anand Shankar has penned the story and screenplay, while dialogues are written by Shan Karuppusamy.
The film features music by Santhosh Narayanan, who reunites with Vikram after Mahaan (2022), directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The technical crew includes cinematographer RD Rajasekar ISC, editor Raymond Derrick Crasta, production designer Rajeevan and art director Surya Rajeevan.
The project is being produced by TG Thyagarajan under the Sathya Jyothi Films banner, with Sendhil Thyagarajan and Arjun Thyagarajan also attached as producers. G Saravanan and Sai Siddharth serve as co-producers. Further details regarding the plot, genre and extended cast are expected to be revealed in the coming months.
The film also co-stars Urvashi, VTV Ganesh, Samyuktha Hegde and MS Bhaskar, among others.
