The world premiere of Ramayana: Rise of Legend, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi, is set for October 27, 2026, at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the two-part epic aims to introduce the Indian classic to a global audience with a star-studded 3D screening and festive Indian flair.
Weeks before the two-part epic reaches cinemas, the makers of Ramayana: Rise of Legend, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi, have scheduled the film’s world premiere for the evening of October 27, 2026, at the David Geffen Theatre of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. The invite-only screening will be in 3D and is meant to introduce the Indian epic to a global audience.
Organisers say the guest list will draw Hollywood personalities, filmmakers, international journalists and other members of the film fraternity. The auditorium is expected to be filled to its maximum capacity of 945 guests.
The choice of venue carries significance for the film’s crew. Hans Zimmer and A R Rahman, both Oscar-winning composers, are working together for the first time on this project. The visual effects come from DNEG, which has won the Academy Award for visual effects eight times.
With the event falling in the run-up to Diwali, the makers are also carrying a festive touch to Los Angeles. Invitees have been asked to turn up in traditional Indian festive wear for the red carpet.
Ramayana is produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, in collaboration with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations and directed by Nitesh Tiwari.
In the film, Ranbir Kapoor plays Ram, Sai Pallavi plays Sita and Yash plays Ravana, with Sunny Deol playing Hanuman and Ravie Dubey playing Lakshman. The producers have positioned the project as an attempt to present India’s foremost epic to the world on a scale not previously attempted in the country’s cinema.
Conceived as a two-part saga, the first instalment is due in theatres worldwide on November 5, 2026, while the second follows during Diwali 2027.
The film will arrive in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam, along with an IMAX release. Sony Pictures will oversee distribution outside India.
