Rashmika Mandanna addressed the online debate over Vijay Deverakonda's marriage remark from 'Koffee With Karan,' emphasising their love and mutual support. She criticised misleading narratives and defended their choices, calling for acceptance of diverse perspectives on love and happiness.
Ever since the second episode of the latest and final season of Koffee With Karan dropped, celebrity couple Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna have been at the centre of every other internet conversation — particularly those that unpack women in modern marriages. Five days after the contentious episode aired, Mandanna has finally broken her silence. And she has thoughts. In a lengthy post shared across her social media accounts, the actor addressed the criticism surrounding the episode.
The episode became a talking point, particularly after Deverakonda revealed that he wanted Mandanna to ask him to marry her more than 100 times before he said yes. Addressing this, Mandanna wrote, "It was never about the number of times or an entire year. That's where some of you got stuck. Yes, that conversation happened. But neither of us was looking for a grand proposal. The conversation was about him wanting both of us to take the time and space to understand each other, to be sure that despite all the highs and lows, the joys and stresses of life, this was what we wanted and the right time for it. And we did. We chose each other."
Mandanna stated that the couple have built their lives on their own terms, through their own choices and hard work. Viewers whose idea of love looks different, the actor wrote, are free to live in that version, while Mandanna would keep cheering for happy people everywhere, calling that the bare minimum everyone should aim for.
The post then turned to the reels and comments offering concern for the actor, including free relationship advice and warnings to run. Mandanna thanked those creators but pointed out that none of them were around a couple of years ago, when matters were genuinely difficult.
Deverakonda was, and remains so, she added. "Find a man who loves you so beautifully that even after you're married, you'd still want to tell him, "Let's get married." I would do it a thousand times - 100 is nothing. It's really that simple," she wrote. The actress called the readiness to trust misleading edits and fabricated narratives over the actor’s own words “a little creepy.”
Deverakonda also addressed the discourse in a post, describing Mandanna as his best friend, his wife and one of the most beautiful parts of his life that he got absolutely right. The actor said the couple are both gloriously happy and blessed, and added that if the situation comes down to the two of them against the world, so be it. Deverakonda extended love to those who celebrate love and the simplicity of living happily, before closing with a profane message directed at everyone else, which the actor said carried no intended kindness or respect.
The couple, who was last seen in Rahul Sankrityan's Telugu period drama Ranabaali, got married in an intimate Udaipur wedding earlier this year.
