'Sardar 2': SJ Suryah's Look Out From The Karthi Film

SJ Suryah’s intense antagonist look from Karthi’s spy sequel Sardar 2 was unveiled on his birthday, hinting at a menacing new villain. Karthi returns in dual roles as Agent Sardar/Chandra Bose and Inspector Vijay Prakash, with Rajisha Vijayan reprising her part. The PS Mithran film, shot across China and Cambodia, hits theatres on September 10 after a lengthy shoot.

Tamil actor-director SJ Suryah, who will next be seen in Karthi's anticipated sequel Sardar 2, will be playing a menacing antagonist in the film, which got a glimpse on his birthday earlier this week.

"The whirlwind has just begun Wishing the multifaceted explosive actor @iam_SJSuryah a very happy birthday," Prince Pictures, the production banner, wrote on X.

Karthi is expected to reprise his dual roles from the first film, playing both Agent Sardar/Chandra Bose and Inspector Vijay Prakash. Also reprising her role from the original is Rajisha Vijayan. New additions to the franchise include SJ Suryah, Ashika Ranganath,, Malavika Mohanan, Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh, Shah Ra, Babu Antony, O.A.K Sundar, and Anbu Thasan, among others.

Sardar followed the story of a dedicated cop who sets out to clear his father's name after being raised with the stigma of being the son of a traitor, only to uncover his father's hidden life and a larger conspiracy. The film also starred Raashii Khanna, Chunky Pandey, Laila, Rithvik, Munishkanth, Avinash, Yugi Sethu, and Balaji Sakthivel.

The makers of the film recently announced the film's release date on with a video announcement. The sequel to PS Mithran's 2022 spy action thriller Sardar will open in theatres on September 10. The announcement video shows Karthi's older avatar as Chandra Bose, a RAW agent codenamed Sardar, standing with rifles against a large blaze in the background.

The film, which was confirmed following the release of Sardar in 2022, went on floors only in July 2024. Principal photography wrapped in June 2025 after more than 100 shooting days, with locations including China and Cambodia.

The sequel’s composer is Sam CS, while the original was scored by GV Prakash Kumar. George C Williams returns as cinematographer and the film is edited by Vijay Velukutty. The screenplay is written by Rathna Kumar, Ashameera Aiyappan, and Vignesh Muniyandi.
