Tamil star Suriya's upcoming film Scene, which will see him share screen space with Malayalam actress Nazriya Nazim for the first time, has grossed ₹8.64 lakhs from advance bookings. According to popular tracker Sacnilk, the numbers are from 4,834 tickets across India.
The film is anticipated in Tamil and Malayalam film circles, marking popular Malayalam filmmaker Jithu Madhavan's Tamil debut. Madhavan is known for Malayalam film hits such as Romancham and Aavesham. At the film's recently held audio launch, Suriya spoke about collaborating with Nazriya for the first time.
"Sometimes, I want to work with a good actor. Three times, we asked; she rejected. I think this is the fourth attempt, and now she said okay. It is okay. For 10-12 years, she said no to so many directors and actors, but thank you for finally accepting our film and doing it," he said.
The Tamil star also went on to explain why he chose Scene as part of his lineup. "Jithu has created a world that is so different in Scene and is a wonderful creator. It was a pleasure having him shoot in Chennai for the first time," he said, observing how 2026 was a special year for him. "I have had releases this year, including Karuppu, Vishwanath and Sons, and Scene," he said, hopeful that audiences accept Scene as they did his previous work.
Directed by Jithu Madhavan, the project is jointly backed by Suriya's newly launched Zhagaram Studios and his home banner 2D Entertainment, with Jyotika producing alongside the actor and Jaishree Damodaran serving as co-producer.
The film's recently released trailer opens with Suriya’s Inbaraj submitting his resignation from J4 police station, much to the shock of his colleagues. While his superior officer repeatedly tries to get him back to work, Inbaraj seems to be enjoying his newfound freedom at home. When asked why he would quit at the peak of his career, he reveals his plans to enter politics. The trailer also briefly introduces Maya (Nazriya Nazim), his house help, before bringing in Eeswaran (Naslen), a cold-blooded killer, hinting at the conflict that could pull Inbaraj back into action.
The crime comedy will arrive in theatres on November 6.
