Singeetham Srinivasa Rao returns to Telugu cinema with Sing Geetham, a musical fantasy set in a mysterious, isolated village. Co-starring Ayaan, Ahilya Bamroo, and Shalini Kondepudi, it is envisioned as India’s first genre-defying musical fantasy.

Legendary filmmaker Singeetham Srinivasa Rao's upcoming Telugu film is titled Sing Geetham. A fun take on the filmmaker's name, the film co-stars Ayaan, Ahilya Bamroo, and Shalini Kondepudi, and is billed to be a musical fantasy.

Set against the backdrop of a mysterious and isolated village, Sing Geetham follows a young man, Prathap, whose pursuit of opportunity leads him into a world where nothing is as it seems. "As he becomes entangled in forces larger than himself, he is drawn into a conflict between progress and preservation—one that challenges his choices, beliefs, and sense of purpose," reads a press note. The film's teaser was recently launched.

"From the iconic silent film Pushpak to the visionary sci-fi classic Aditya 369, his work has been synonymous with innovation. His celebrated collaborations with Kamal Haasan—including Vichitra Sahodarlu and Michael Madana Kama Rajan—remain benchmarks of creative excellence. Now, he returns with his dream project, envisioned as India’s first musical fantasy—a genre-defying cinematic experience that blends music and magical realism," the press note adds.

Rao is behind several landmark Tamil and Telugu films such as Kamal Haasan's Pushpaka Vimana (1987), Apoorva Sagodharargal (1989), and Michael Madana Kama Rajan (1990). Sing Geetham will have music by Devi Sri Prasad and story by Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, Gautami Challagulla, Shashank, Sreekar, and Nanda Kishore. The film will be released on June 11.

The film will be produced by Nag Ashwin under the prestigious banners of Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema. Ashwin, popular for directing Mahanati (2018) and Kalki 2898AD (2024), is currently working on the sequel to the hit Prabhas film. Produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, the science fiction epic co-starred Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Anna Ben, and Deepika Padukone in important roles. The sequel, however, will not see Padukone's return.
