Mythri Movie Makers formally launched the production of their next Tamil film on October 14 at a pooja ceremony in Chennai. The untitled project, tentatively referred to as Soori 7, stars Soori in the lead role, is directed by Ravikumar and produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar under the Mythri Movie Makers banner. It is the production house's fourth Tamil production.

Actor Sivakarthikeyan sounded the clapboard at the ceremony, while Mandaadi producer Elred Kumar switched on the camera. Among the guests present were Vetri Maaran, Nalan Kumarasamy, Mithran, Mathi Maran, Keerthiswaran, A.R.K. Saravanan and Ramkumar, along with Lyca Productions' Tamil Kumaran, Bejoy Arputharaj of Phantom Films and producer Arun Vishwa.

Rajisha Vijayan plays the female lead opposite Soori. No further casting or technical crew details have been announced. The film's title, shooting schedule and release timeline are yet to be disclosed.

Speaking at the ceremony, director Ravikumar says, "It is a special moment for me to have the opportunity to work with one of the most prestigious production houses in the film industry. I sincerely thank producers Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar for this wonderful opportunity. Soori’s growth as a lead actor has been phenomenal, and that places an even greater responsibility on my shoulders to present him in a way that does justice to his talent, stature and the expectations of his fans. We are beginning this project with great enthusiasm and look forward to bringing audiences a wonderful cinematic experience."

The announcement of Soori 7 arrived with an intense poster, in which the protagonist is in the middle of a trail of wreckage- shattered utensils, scattered debris, and an overturned gas cylinder, capturing the raw aftermath of destruction.

Ravikumar previously directed Indru Netru Naalai (2015) and Ayalaan (2024). Soori 7 marks his return to direction after a five-year gap.

Soori's latest film Mandaadi crossed ₹125 crore in worldwide earnings, and emerged as one of the biggest commercial successes of the actor's career. The film also starred Mahima Nambiar, Sathyaraj, Ravindra Vijay, and Achyuth Kumar in key roles. The film featured music by GV Prakash Kumar and camerawork by SR Kathir.

Rajisha Vijayan was last seen this year in Karthi's spy action sequel Sardar 2, Prithviraj's action crime drama Khalifa, and the Malayalam sci-fi comedy Masthishka Maranam.
