Spotify RAP91 LIVE marked its fifth edition in Mumbai on October 24, celebrating five years of India’s hip hop movement as an exclusive Spotify Premium experience. The language-neutral flagship RAP91 playlist features over 130 artists from more than 25 cities, performing in 15-plus languages, and has grown 36% in two years to reach 470,000 followers.
On October 24, Spotify RAP91 LIVE will return to Mumbai for its fifth edition to celebrate five years of India's rap scene on stage. The event was held as a Spotify Premium experience, exclusively for Spotify Premium subscribers.
RAP91 is Spotify's language-neutral flagship hip-hop playlist in India which has quickly become the go-to destination for fans in search for the genre's best and latest hits, bringing together a range of artists and voices from across the country.
This year, the concert's lineup brought together 23 Indian artists, including some of the fastest-rising names in Indian hip-hop such as DIVINE, Arivu, Panther, Real Boss, Hammy Muzic, Rocksun and Iqbal to name a few.
Over the last five years, RAP91 LIVE has gradually grown into an inclusive platform that has brought to the stage over 130 artists from over 25 cities and regions across India, performing in more than 15 languages. Having grown by over 36% in the last two years itself, Spotify's RAP91 flagship playlist has seen impressive numbers. Today, it has over 470,000 followers.
The hip-hop ecosystem on Spotify includes seven language-specific RAP91 playlists, in Hindi, Punjabi, Malayalam, Haryanvi, Tamil, Marathi and Bhojpuri.
Over the last year, these language specific RAP91 playlists have also grown significantly as a result of increased demand for hip-hop across Indian languages. Dominating the chart is RAP91 Marathi, which has grown by over 155%. RAP91 Bhojpuri has grown by over 52% and RAP91 Haryanvi by over 23%. Together, they have amassed over 1.5 million followers.
