Marking 20 years of marriage, Tamil stars Suriya and Jyotika renewed their vows in a church ceremony surrounded by their children and family. Sharing a heartfelt video, Jyotika penned an ode to their imperfect yet deeply committed relationship, celebrating sacrifices, mutual respect and enduring friendship as they look ahead to the next two decades together.

Tamil stars and real-life couple Suriya and Jyotika marked their 20th wedding anniversary with a stirring vow-renewal ceremony. The actors shared a brief video from the church celebrations, capturing warm and intimate moments with their children and family.

In the caption, Jyotika wrote a short ode to the 20 years of love, marriage and war she cherished with Suriya. This is not the celebration of a perfect marriage, she began. "This is a celebration of imperfections, of adjustments, of understanding, sacrifices, of loving each other selflessly . This is a celebration of “us”. The people we have become for each other .
How ironical- A dream which felt far from reality, is now a reality I will spend my entire lifetime dreaming of," she wrote, going on to expand on her vows.

"I vow to be a happy person — because I choose to see only life's positive side . I vow to celebrate life — because life itself is a gift when the man whom you love, respects you beyond himself. I vow never to complain-
Why should I ? when even something as vast as the sky doesn’t have the privilege of touching the ground! Look around , everything in existence is incomplete. It’s how we choose to fill the gaps. I vow to be thankful - as every morning I wake in the arms of a man who protects me, and for my beautiful children who've given my life a meaning," she wrote.

Suriya tears up upon seeing wife Jyotika

She concluded the caption by making a warm observation about their partnership. "I vow to cherish our friendship most of all — because it’s rare to find your equal, your confidant, your gossip partner and your best friend, all living inside this one special man who also happens to be your husband and the father of your children. So here’s to our next twenty years — The imperfect us, with the perfect understanding."

In the video, Suriya and Jyotika can be seen with their children, Dev and Diya, along with Suriya’s brother Karthi, as they cheer for the couple from the aisles in an emotional moment.

In an exclusive conversation with THR India, the power couple recently discussed why they haven't worked together since their marriage in 2006. "Leave aside good or bad, and deciding whether we want to do it or not... I don't think we were looked at as a screen couple after marriage," Jyotika explained. "Because there was no kind of script that even came for us to say yes or no to."

The couple were clear that the absence of a collaboration is not due to a deliberate decision to keep their professional lives separate. Jyotika continued, sharing that while they have never been offered an interesting collaboration since their marriage, they would never want to force such a project together. "We've never recommended each other for our own productions," she said. ”We would want that to organically happen," Suriya chimed in.

Suriya and Jyotika, who was first seen together in 1999 film Poovellam Kettuppar, have gone on to do several films together, including Uyirile Kalanthathu (2000), Kaakha Kaakha (2003), Perazhagan (2004), Maayavi (2005) and Sillunu Oru Kaadhal (2006).
