Suriya's much-awaited film with director Jithu Madhavan finally has a name. The makers unveiled the title teaser on Tuesday, revealing that the project long referred to as Suriya47 has been titled Scene.
The teaser introduces Suriya as an unconventional, chain-smoking cop credited with a staggering 900 criminal arrests, before he's handed a case that upends his usual way of operating.
Scene marks Malayalam filmmaker Jithu Madhavan's first Tamil venture, following the acclaim he earned for Romanchamand Aavesham. The film also reunites him with composer Sushin Shyam.
Alongside Suriya, the cast includes Nazriya Nazim Fahadh and Naslen in key roles, with Anandaraj, Lal and Raj Priyan rounding out the supporting cast. The project is jointly backed by Suriya's newly launched Zhagaram Studios and his home banner 2D Entertainment, with Jyotika producing alongside the actor and Jaishree Damodaran serving as co-producer.
With the release date locked for November 6, Scene now sets up a high-stakes box office face-off with Ranbir Kapoor and Yash's Ramayana: Part 1, which Sony Pictures confirmed will also open worldwide the same day, two days ahead of Diwali.
Nitesh Tiwari's two-part mythological epic, made on a reported budget of ₹4,000 crore, stars Kapoor as Lord Ram and Yash as Ravana, alongside Sai Pallavi as Sita and arrives with the scale of a pan-Indian tentpole years in the making.
The clash pits a Tamil star vehicle built on Suriya's box office momentum coming off the success of Vishwanath and Sons and Karuppu against one of Indian cinema's most ambitious mythological productions.
Suriya, meanwhile, has more on his plate: he is also attached to a project with director TJ Gnanavel under Hombale Films, continuing what has been one of the busiest stretches of his career.
