T-Series has secured the music rights for both parts of Nitesh Tiwari’s mythological epic Ramayana with a refundable advance of ₹75 crore, one of the biggest audio deals in Indian cinema. The saga, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, releases on Diwali 2026 and 2027, with a globally distributed soundtrack by A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer.
T-Series has acquired the music rights for both instalments of Ramayana, the Nitesh Tiwari-directed mythological epic produced by Namit Malhotra, for a refundable advance of ₹75 crore, which is said to be one of the largest music rights deals in Indian film history. The deal covers the music of both parts of the two-film saga, with the first part releasing on Diwali 2026 and the second on Diwali 2027.
Additionally, the film's trailer release was postponed from it's earlier release date, Friday, July 24. On July 28, producer Namit Malhotra announced the trailer's new worldwide release schedule: a 4:15 AM IST release on July 30.
According to reports which revealed the acquisition, the deal ranks among the biggest music rights deals ever struck by an Indian music label. The deal has reportedly surpassed the music rights value of Pushpa 2: The Rule, whose music rights were previously acquired by T-Series for around ₹65 crore.
The report also added that several leading music labels were in the race to acquire the audio rights, but T-Series ultimately sealed the agreement. The ₹75 crore figure is structured as a refundable advance rather than an outright purchase.
The film's soundtrack has already been one of the film's biggest talking points, with Oscar-winning composers A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer collaborating for the first time on an Indian feature film. The scale of the collaboration mirrors the broader scope of the production, which is being positioned as the most expensive Indian film ever made.
Ramayana: Part 1 stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. The film is produced by Namit Malhotra under Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Monster Mind Creations, and is being distributed globally outside India by Sony Pictures, a collaboration that was announced on July 24.
Ramayana: Part 2 is scheduled for Diwali 2027.
