Director Raja Krishna Menon, known for Airlift, Chef and Pippa, makes his Tamil debut with an untitled psychological horror led by Trisha Krishnan, Radhika Sarathkumar and Aparna Balamurali. Backed by Panorama Studios and Locomotive Global, the London-shot film is Menon’s first Tamil project, first psychological horror and first women-centric story, promising character-driven terror over conventional jump scares.
Best known for helming high-stakes dramas like Airlift, Chef, and Pippa, director Raja Krishna Menon is now entering an unfamiliar, but thrilling new territory, marking his debut in Tamil cinema with an untitled psychological horror drama.
Produced by Panorama Studios in association with Locomotive Global, the film will star Trisha Krishnan, veteran star Radhika Sarathkumar, and National Award-winner Aparna Balamurali.
Earlier today, Panorama Studios shared the news on Instagram with a picture of Menon and Krishnan holding a clapperboard together.
The post's caption read: "A new story begins in Tamil cinema! Panorama Studios’ first Tamil production is officially on the floor. Directed by Raja Krishna Menon and starring Trisha Krishnan, Radhika Sarathkumar and Aparna Balamurali, this psychological thriller promises mystery, suspense and horror."
The director revealed that "someone once quite aptly called me 'genre agnostic,' and this film is another exploration in that journey," calling this project his "first" in many avenues as a filmmaker, since it will be his first Tamil film, first psychological horror, and his first story centered entirely around women.
"Adding to that is the privilege of working with Trisha Krishnan, Radhika ma’am, Aparna Balamurali, the wonderful cast and a fantastic crew. It makes this journey all the more exciting," he expressed.
The film has already begun principal photography in London and marks the first Tamil outing for Panorama Studios as part of its expanding influence in South India.
Menon's film is said to depart from the traditional jump scares, anchored in a dark, terrorising narrative fueled by character-driven emotion.
