The makers of Vishwanath and Sons released the film's trailer on August 7, a week ahead of its worldwide theatrical release on August 14. The Tamil family drama stars Suriya as Sanjay Vishwanath and Mamitha Baiju as Maddy in a story that is slated to be an age-gap romance. Supporting cast include Radhika Sarathkumar, Raveena Tandon, Raghu Babu and Nassar.
The film is directed by Venky Atluri and produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under the Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas banners, with Srikara Studios presenting the film.
Vishwanath and Sons follows Sanjay, a pistol shooter who competed at the Olympic level whose life takes a dramatic turn when his child needs a bone marrow transplant. The newly released trailer shows Sanjay travelling abroad in search for a transplant match, a search that ends with Mamitha Baiju's Maddy. The trailer further hints that Maddy's arrival changes Sanjay's life in more ways than he might have expected, revealing that she eventually falls in love with him.
GV Prakash, with whom Atluri has worked on his previous productions, Lucky Bhaskar and Vaathi/Sir is behind the music for this upcoming release. Cinematographer Nimish Ravi and production designer Banglan, who also worked with Atluri on Lucky Bhaskar, have worked on this film.
Vishwanath and Sons is Suriya's second release of 2026, following Karuppu, directed by RJ Balaji, which released earlier in the year. It marks his first collaboration with Venky Atluri, a Telugu director whose previous directorials include Lucky Bhaskar (2024), Vaathi/Sir (2023), and Mr. Majnu (2019). The actor's next film after this is Suriya47, his collaboration with director Jithu Madhavan, which completed principal photography earlier this year.
For Mamitha Baiju, the film releases ahead of Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, her Malayalam romantic comedy with Nivin Pauly, which releases on August 21. This year, she also appeared in Jana Nayagan (2026) and Kara, the Dhanush-led Tamil film.
The film is produced in Tamil and Telugu and will release in both languages on August 14.
