'Chhorii' Director Vishal Furia and Abundantia Entertainment Reunite to Expand Horror Slate
Following 'Chhorii 2', Abundantia and Furia join forces to develop two new horror films under the studio’s genre vertical Psych.
Abundantia Entertainment is reuniting with Chhorii franchise director Vishal Furia for a new slate of horror content under its dedicated genre label, Psych. The collaboration follows the success of Chhorii 2, which expanded on the first film’s reputation for pushing the boundaries of Indian horror with “a gripping storyline, incredible performances and chilling world-building.”
The production house, led by Vikram Malhotra, has announced that two films are already in development as part of the fresh partnership. One is inspired by a chilling real-life event set in a contemporary urban setting, while the second will explore horror rooted in Indian cultural mythology.
“This collaboration is not just about creating scary films together—it’s about creating a compelling universe of horror that connects with today’s evolving audience,” said Vikram Malhotra, Founder & CEO of Abundantia Entertainment. “Vishal’s command over the genre and his distinct storytelling voice have already made the Chhorii franchise one of the country’s disruptive entertainment success stories.”
Furia, who directed both Chhorii and Chhorii 2, said the renewed partnership builds on a creative synergy established through the franchise. “Our journey with the Chhorii franchise has been thrilling and enriching, and this collaboration is the next step in our shared ambition to shape a new wave of horror content in India,” he said. “I’m excited to continue this creative partnership with Vikram and Abundantia Entertainment and build stories that stay with the audience long after the credits roll.”
Launched as a dedicated horror vertical within Abundantia, Psych focuses on psychological, supernatural, and culturally resonant horror narratives. The studio says it aims to create “platform-agnostic” stories that appeal to both Indian and global audiences.
Abundantia, which has previously backed titles like Shakuntala Devi, Sherni, Breathe, and Ram Setu, positions Psych as part of its broader strategy to deliver high-impact, creator-driven genre storytelling.
