Actor Ajith Kumar Welcomes F1 Driver Narain Karthikeyan To His Racing Team
Malayalam filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan will soon be directing the biopic of Narain Karthikeyan.
Actor Ajith Kumar and his racing team put out a press release late Wednesday evening welcoming former F1 driver Narain Karthikeyan to his team. The release quotes the actor as saying, “It’s truly a privilege to have Narain join the team. Racing alongside him is an honour. With Narain, this Asian Le Mans Series is something very special for all of us.”
The letter also featured Narain Karthikeyan's response, speaking about his relationship with the actor. “I’ve known Ajith for many years, and it’s great to see him now racing cars at a professional level. I’m excited to partner with him in the upcoming Asian Le Mans Series and look forward to an incredible journey ahead,” he said.
In Late July, it was announced that Malayalam filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan will direct the biopic of Narain Karthikeyan, India's first Formula One driver. The Tamil-language film, which is in development at Blue Marble Films, will reportedly be produced by Faraz Ahsan, Vivek Rangachari, and Pratik Maitra, with Amish Shah and Nilaanjan Reeta Datta serving as associate producers. The screenplay of the film will come from Shalini Usha Devi, who wrote Sudha Kongara's critically acclaimed Soorarai Pottru (2021).
Karthikeyan, who hails from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, competed in Formula One between 2005 and 2012. In 2005, Karthikeyan became India’s first Formula One driver with the Jordan F1 team. He later became the first Indian to score F1 World Championship points, finishing fourth at the United States Grand Prix. He then joined Williams F1 as a test driver.
On Sunday, 33 years after Ajith made his debut in cinema, the actor put out an emotional letter to thank his supporters for the love and patience through three decades. He wrote, “I don't wait for landmark numbers as I believe that each passing year is a landmark year. I thank you all with a full heart and folded hands. This journey was never easy. I did not come from legacy or influence. I started from the outside, with nothing more than a will to try.”
