Filming for Nobody, the upcoming film starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and directed by Nissam Basheer, is set to commence on April 9 in Kochi. Written by Sameer Abdul, the film marks the second collaboration between Basheer and Abdul following Rorschach (2022), a psychological horror thriller led by Mammootty.

Produced under the banners of Prithviraj Productions and E4 Entertainment, Nobody is backed by Supriya Menon, Mukesh R. Mehta, and C.V. Sarathi. While details regarding the plot and cast remain under wraps, the film’s music will be composed by Harshavardhan Rameshwar, known for scoring Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Arjun Reddy, its Hindi remake Kabir Singh, and Animal. Rameshwar is also working on the soundtrack for Ottakomban, an upcoming Malayalam film starring Suresh Gopi.

Sukumaran’s most recent directorial, L2: Empuraan, the second instalment in the Lucifer trilogy, premiered on March 27. The Mohanlal-led political thriller has been a box-office success despite controversy over its depiction of the 2002 Gujarat riots. Following backlash, the film’s producers made 24 edits, including the removal of politically sensitive scenes. A revised version was released in theaters on Wednesday.

Mohanlal addressed the controversy in a statement, expressing regret that certain themes in L2: Empuraan had caused distress. “As an artist, it is my duty to ensure that none of my films harbour hatred towards any political movement, ideology, or sect,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) condemned online attacks directed at Mohanlal and Sukumaran, calling them “unfortunate and unacceptable.”

With Nobody set to go on floors, Sukumaran is returning to acting after helming L2: Empuraan, which continues to draw audiences despite the ongoing debate around its content.
