Filmmaker Patrick Graham, who helmed the Radhika Apte-starrer Ghoul (2018) and Vineet Kumar Singh-led Betaal (2020)has penned his next feature, billed as a horror film around a real historical tragedy, which actor Ahan Shetty will headline.

The yet-untitled film, inspired by a real-life national tragedy, will go on floors in early 2026 with a script written by Graham, whose two Indian titles—both miniseries released on Netflix—were produced by Blumhouse Television, the global powerhouse behind iconic horrors like Get Out, The Purge, and Paranormal Activity.

According to the makers, the new film will place Shetty in a "mass entertainer that blends horror with a powerful love story" mounted on a thriller narrative. The makers will reveal other details soon, including the title, director, and the announcement of the female lead.

This will be a departure for Shetty, who made his debut with his 2021 romantic drama Tadap, co-starring Tara Sutaria. Directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film was a remake of the Telugu film RX 100.

Shetty will next be seen in Border 2, also starring Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, and Varun Dhawan, scheduled for Republic Day 2026. Directed by Anurag Singh (who also helmed Akshay Kumar-starrer Kesari in 2019) will be helming the sequel. The 1997 film was directed by JP Dutta and went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters of Indian cinema.

The new horror film will be produced by Khyati Madaan under her banner Not Out Entertainment and by Prashant Gunjalkar.
