Ajith Kumar's AK64 Titled 'Daredevil'; His Racing Documentary 'Gladiators' Announced

On Monday, director Adhik Ravichandran announced that actor Ajith Kumar's 64th film, previously named AK64, has now been titled Daredevil.

The Good Bad Ugly director posted a heartfelt message on X the same day, hinting at the passionate feel of the film and thanking Ajith’s wife, former actress Shalini, who will be producing the film under a new banner called Bravehearts Production.

The post read:

"34 years of breaking barriers, inspiring millions, and redefining stardom. A journey built on passion, perseverance, and unmatched charisma. Daredevil is here. This is going to be very special. Thank you my sir, Ajith Kumar sir, for the trust and support. Thank you producer Shalini mam.”

Last year in November, in the midst of pre-production getting over and location scouting, Adhik had said that "it would be “very special film for me because Ajith sir has trusted me with another film after Good Bad Ugly. I am working on AK64 with that responsibility.”

Daredevil will mark Ajith's return to the screen after over a year's break since Good Bad Ugly, which he spent focusing on his racing aspirations. The film's crew includes editor Vijay Velukutty, cinematographer Abinandhan Ramanujam, stunt choreographer Supreme Sundar and sound designer Suren.

Team Daredevil has also confirmed the onboarding of music composer Anirudh Ravichander, marking his fourth project with the actor after Vivegam, Vedalam and Vidaamuyarchi. Cementing his involvement, Ravichander took to X, saying:

"Once again with dearest AK sir in an Adhik Ravichandran directorial, Daredevil. Much love to Shalini Ma’am, Suresh Chandraa and Brave Hearts Production.”

While the makers haven't revealed the rest of the plot or the cast, earlier in mid-July, Ravichandran confirmed that the film's screenplay had been finalised and that all pre-production had been completed.

A second film announcement soon followed that of Daredevil. This will be a documentary about Ajith's racing journey which is being directed by Vijay. Director Vijay has made several hit feature films before this including Kireedam starring Ajith. Vijay had most recently directed Kadhal Reset Repeat this year and Mission: Chapter 1 last year with Arun Vijay. The title of the Ajith Kumar documentary is Gladiators - In Pursuit of Challenges.
