The Balakrishna movie was initially slotted to be released on December 5
Nandamuri Balakrishna's Akhanda 2 is set to be released this Friday, the 12th of December, after a last-minute issue delayed its release on December 5. As reported earlier, this sequel to the 2021 mythological action film was set to be released last week, but hours before the release, the makers announced it had been pushed. "With a heavy heart, we regret to inform you that #Akhanda2 will not be releasing as scheduled due to unavoidable circumstances. This is a painful moment for us, and we truly understand the disappointment it brings to every fan and movie lover awaiting the film. We are working tirelessly to resolve the matter at the earliest. Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused. Your support means the world to us. We promise to share a positive update very soon," an earlier statement from 14 Reels Plus read.
The film's paid premieres were earlier cancelled due to technical reasons. It was reported that the Madras High Court ordered to put a stay on its screening following an appeal filed by Eros International Media Limited. But on December 9, the makers put out a statement revealing that the release has been cleared. "All set for the Divine Destruction at the box office. Feel the MASSive power of #Akhanda2 in theatres from 𝐃𝐄𝐂𝐄𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑 𝟏𝟐 with grand premieres on December 11th BOOKINGS OPEN SOON," their post read on X.
Directed by Boyapati Sreenu, the film co-stars Samyuktha Menon, Kabir Singh and Aadhi Pinisetty. The film is a sequel to the 2021 film of the same name. The film's trailer suggested a spiritual war to counter evil. The trailer, which hints at a good vs. evil battle, also features Pinisetty as the antagonist who wants to crush the belief of people's faith in God. It is co-produced by Raam Achanta and Gopi Achanta. The film will be released in languages including Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
