The makers of Welcome to the Jungle on Tuesday announced that the comedy film has zeroed in on a release date: June 26, this year. Directed by Ahmed Khan, the Akshay Kumar-led comedy franchise went on floors in December 2023.
The official announcement was dropped with a picture of the entire team of the film on set. The film also stars Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Raveena Tandon, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Arshad Warsi and Paresh Rawal, among others.
It was also stated that the comedy feature will have "high-octane action", along with a massive ensemble cast of over 30 actors. The release date announcement comes a year after it was reported that the makers of the film halted its production due to financial troubles.
There were reports back then that some actors were contemplating quitting when the shoot was cancelled for the third time, disrupting the shooting timeline for such a large ensemble. The schedule was back on track later.
The first Welcome, directed by Anees Bazmee, was a major box-office hit in 2007. The film starred Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor, Paresh Rawal and Nana Patekar.
Bazmee returned to direct the sequel in 2015, which starred John Abraham, Shruti Haasan, along with Kapoor and Patekar. The third instalment in the comedy series isn't related to the previous two films, but is part of the larger Welcome universe. Welcome to the Jungle is presented by AA Nadiadwala and Star Studio18, in association with Cape of Good Films and Seeta Films.
