AR Rahman wins Hollywood Music in Media Award for 'The Goat Life/ Aadujeevitham'
Rahman had composed music for the acclaimed Malayalam survival drama, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, which released earlier this year.
It is a jubilant moment on the work front for music composer AR Rahman, who has bagged the Best Score - Foreign Language Film honour at the Hollywood Music In Media Awards 2024 for the Malayalam survival drama The Goat Life (Aadujeevitham). The film starred Prithviraj Sukumaran, and was a blockbuster upon its release in March this year.
Rahman composed four songs — and an instrumental track — for The Goat Life, which was the third Malayalam film of his career. The composer took to Instagram and posted a video thanking the team behind the film, including filmmaker Blessy.
"It’s an incredible honour to receive this award for Best Score for a foreign language film, The Goat Life. I am deeply grateful to the Hollywood Music and Media Awards for recognising the score," Rahman said in a video message.
The 57-year-old composer called The Goat Life a "labour of love" and said he shares the moment with his "amazing team of musicians and technicians," director Blessy, and, "everyone who believed the vision we brought to life." He added, "To my fans and supporters worldwide, thank you for your unwavering love and inspiration."
The award comes days after Rahman announced his separation from his wife Saira Banu, after 29 years of marriage.
The Goat Life was an adaptation of the 2008 best-selling Malayalam novel Aadujeevitham written by Benyamin. The book chronicled the real-life story of Najeeb, a Malayali immigrant labourer in the Gulf.
