Playback singer A.R. Ameen, son of Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman, escaped with minor injuries after a car accident in Chennai in the early hours of Monday, August 10, 2026.

The incident took place around 3:30 a.m. near the Olympia Tech Park signal in Guindy. According to police, Ameen was driving a Porsche with a friend when a Wagon-R, operating under the Rapido service, entered the main road from a side lane, leading to a collision between the two vehicles.

Both Ameen and his friend sustained minor injuries and were taken to Kauvery Hospital for treatment. They were discharged shortly after. A passenger in the Wagon-R was also injured in the accident and was admitted to the Kalaignar Centenary Super Speciality Hospital. The passenger has since been discharged following treatment.

The Adyar Traffic Investigation Wing has seized both vehicles involved in the collision and registered a case. Further investigation is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to the accident.

Police officials have stated that further details will be shared as the investigation progresses.
