'Athiradi': Basil Joseph, Tovino Thomas and Vineeth Sreenivasan Unite For Action Film
Directed by Arun Anirudhan, this is Basil’s first film as producer
In an intriguing shoot announcement video, made to look like a confession video, we see Vineeth Sreenivasan introducing both Basil Joseph and Tovino Thomas’ characters in the upcoming action film Athiradi.
In a courtroom like setting, Vineeth can be seen talking at length about both of them, who appear to be in the most diverse of settings. If Basil can be seen sporting a baseball jacket in what looks like a night club, Tovino’s avatar is more rustic and raw and he can be seen at a temple festival-like atmosphere. The theme uniting both of them is how they are both ready to attack as a fight is all set to break out in their respective places.
It is the directorial debut of Minnal Murali and Padayottam co-writer Arun Anirudhan. This new glimpse video ends with Vineeth Sreenivasan revising the famous Kamal Haasan dialogue 'Arambikkalangala' from Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Vikram. While full-fledged shooting is yet to commence, the title teaser promises an action drama with lots of violence.
About his acting career, Basil had earlier said, “They feel they can get more out of me after that. The first take is not enough, and the directors push me harder to deliver something new and different each time. So when they write, they feel I can pull off a hero’s Journey, like I did in Ponman. I can do a negative shade too with darker layers. I can explore more now than I could earlier. But maybe, the frustration I feel today has come from the exhaustion of having acted in too many movies in too short a span. I want to get back to directing as soon as I can. If it takes any longer, I’ll forget to introduce myself as a filmmaker.”
As for Tovino, he recently celebrated the success of his film Narivetta at an event in Kochi.
