'Billa Ranga Baasha': Kichcha Sudeep Announces That Production Will Resume This June

Kichcha Sudeep has shared an update on the status of his ongoing project, Billa Ranga Baasha (BRB), confirming that the film’s production will resume on June 26. The actor announced on X, putting to rest speculation around the progress of the long-awaited Kannada project. He also shared that while he has been on a break from films, he currently has four scripts locked, and with the production of BRB resuming, other productions will follow.

Directed by Anup Bhandari, the film was announced as the duo’s reunion after Vikrant Rona. The film is described as a fantasy action drama set in a dystopian future and is backed by Telugu production house Primeshow Entertainment. A concept video for the film was unveiled in September 2024, introducing the film’s futuristic setting and scale.

The project had initially gone on floors in April 2025, with the makers releasing a first-look poster featuring Sudeep. However, production has progressed in phases, with the latest schedule now set to commence later this month.

Apart from Billa Ranga Baasha, Sudeep has several projects in development. The actor was last seen in KD: The Devil, directed by Prem, which marked their second collaboration after The Villain.

He is also expected to headline a romantic comedy, a genre shift from the action-oriented films that have dominated his recent filmography. A source close to the project revealed that the film will be directed by an associate of Telugu filmmaker Sukumar. The project is yet to be officially announced by the makers.

"I will definitely not say yes to a film because something similar has worked in the market. I don't think that can easily make me say yes. For me, it has to excite me. It should be something I haven't done so far, and even if it is something I've done before, it should have a newer plot," said the actor in an earlier interview with THR India.

With shooting on Billa Ranga Baasha set to resume on June 26, the film remains one of the key titles in Sudeep’s upcoming slate. The makers have not yet announced a release date.
