Filmmaker Anurag Singh's war epic Border 2 has stormed the Indian box-office, delivering a massive day four performance on Republic Day. The film, headlined by Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty, has been on a historic run, recording one of the best extended weekends of all time.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film netted ₹59 crore on Monday, Republic Day. This was the second consecutive day for Border 2, where the collections crossed the ₹50 crore mark. In Hindi cinema, Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan holds the record for the highest Republic Day collection at ₹70 crore all-India nett and ₹68 crore in Hindi.

Border 2 opened on Friday at ₹30 crore, which was a good figure but well below the day one collection of Deol's Gadar 2, which had netted over ₹38 crore in 2023. The film then recorded ₹36 crore on day two, and then jumped significantly on Sunday when it clocked over ₹54 crore, according to Sacnilk.

The film's all-India total, according to trade, now stands at ₹180 crore. Border 2 will now cross the ₹200 crore benchmark and then cruise to the second weekend. The film's worldwide collections stand at over ₹247 crore.

Border 2 will look to break into the ₹500 crore club by the end of its run, but that will depend on how the film holds on weekdays now, after the huge extended weekend. If it does manage to go past ₹500 crore, it would be the second Deol film to do so after Gadar 2, which had netted nearly ₹524 crore in India.

The film is inspired by the true events of the 1971 India-Pakistan War. It is a sequel to the 1997 war epic Border, which was directed by JP Dutta. Set during the India–Pakistan war of 1971, the film was based on the events of the Battle of Longewala. Border 2 also stars Mona Singh, Medha Rana, Sonam Bajwa and Anyaa Singh.
