The young fashion designer and influencer took 16 days to make her red carpet outfit for Cannes 2025
Nancy Tyagi’s life as she knew it changed after her debut at the 77th Cannes Film Festival last year. The young fashion designer and influencer from Delhi went viral for walking the red carpet in a self-made pink ruffled gown. Now Tyagi is back at Cannes this year, a lot more confident and happy.
“I didn’t know how things worked last time, but I knew everything this time and I was very happy,” she tells The Hollywood Reporter India in an interview. “When I first came here, I was a bit overwhelmed. But we just have to walk, right?” she adds. This year, Tyagi is at Cannes with her brother for support. Tyagi believes the right amount of hard work and kismet has landed her in this position. Calling her festival debut “life-changing,” she speaks about the one takeaway from all the fame. “ I was able to give my mom a nice lifestyle. That matters the most to me.”
Tyagi is among many other content creators at Cannes, even as there is growing criticism surrounding the presence of internet celebrities at the prestigious film festival. But Tyagi has a simple answer for the naysayers. “If you get an offer, you should go to Cannes. I know that people talk about the eligibility of certain content creators here, but if these people get an offer, they will come to the festival too.”
The fashion designer walked the red carpet with a sequined powder blue outfit this year, a piece that took her around 16 days to make. “I love flowers. Most of my dresses feature them, and I thought, when will I get a better place to feature them again?” she adds. And following the latest Cannes dress code, Tyagi had to make sure her dress avoided a large train. “I got to know about the rule and immediately removed my trail two days before the red carpet look,” she adds with a laugh.
