After a decade of ruling the internet, CarryMinati is ready to take his storytelling to the big screen, not just as an actor, but as a creator.
For someone who has been a YouTube phenomenon since his teens, Ajey Nagar, better known as Carry Minati, has spent the last decade redefining what it means to be a digital creator in India. But even after ten years, his creative hunger shows no signs of slowing down. “I don’t ever want to leave YouTube,” he insists. “That will always be my primary thing.”
What’s next, though, is a dream that he has quietly been nurturing – stepping into the world of films, not merely as a performer, but as a storyteller. “Of course, I want to expand into web series and movies,” he says. “But I don’t just want to act in them. I want to create them.”
“Earlier, my creativity was untamed,” he recalls. “When I started learning, I realised knowledge actually enhances creativity. But half knowledge – that’s the death of it.” It’s why he refuses to rush into filmmaking. Right now, he’s in what he calls the “learning phase,” studying storytelling, writing, and visual perspective.
The YouTuber’s long-term vision is clear: a film that feels entirely his own. “It should say at the end– created by CarryMinati and team,” he smiles. “That’s what I want.”
Whether or not he steps in front of the camera remains to be seen. What’s certain is that Carry’s evolution as an artist is only just beginning. After all, the boy who once filmed roast videos from his bedroom is now dreaming of cinematic worlds, and this time, he’s writing the script himself.
Carry Minati started his YouTube journey when he was just 10, posting gaming videos under the name Stealth Fearzz. A few years later, his roast videos blew up online and made him one of India’s most popular digital creators. Today, apart from his main channel CarryMinati, he also runs CarryisLive, where he streams games and chats with his massive online community.
Watch out for our full interview with CarryMinati, dropping at 8 pm tonight on The Hollywood Reporter India's YouTube channel.
