The trailer of Arjun Das and Anna Ben’s Con City promises comedy with a side of crime. The film appears to be about a family that needs to get together to pull off a scam. The trailer claims the film has been written around real-life events, and much of what we see is set inside the walls of what appears to be an electricity board office.

The currency notes shown here are pre-demonetisation and the film could be about pulling off a cash scam during the initial days of exchanging the older notes. We also hear a lot of talk of the central family getting together to make a film as a part of the larger scam. Arjun Das’ character jokes that he is both the hero and the director of the film.

The title Con City hints at a larger scheme that could affect different people in the same city. We also see most of the characters dressed up in distinctive costumes, adding to the appeal of the trailer. At one point, Arjun Das’ character speaks like VTV Ganesh. This is Arjun Das's first film as a lead in the comedy genre.

The teaser of Con City had shown a cash machine dispensing fresh bank notes. The trailer does not connect this to the plot of the film. Con City is directed by first-timer Harish Durairaj and stars Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh and Vadivukarasi, apart from the two leads. Sean Rolden has composed the film’s music. Arvind Viswanathan is the cinematographer and Arul Moses is the editor.

The fantasy entertainer is all set to hit theatres this Friday, June 26.
