The cops are coming back. THR India has learnt that Prime Video is gearing up to take Dahaad back on floors, with the second season of the police procedural crime thriller—headlined by Sonakshi Sinha and Gulshan Devaiah and created by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti—scheduled to begin filming in Rajasthan this month.

While plot details are being kept firmly under wraps, the creators are said to have locked the script after an extended writing phase. “When the team cracked season two, they knew they had solid material in hand. The script has been in place, and the team has been in active pre-production since last year," industry sources said.

Work on locations, logistics and production design has been quietly underway for months, with the project now ready to move into principal photography. Rajasthan, which played a key role in shaping the texture and setting of the first season, will once again serve as a primary shooting location.

According to sources, the streamer is also mounting the new season at scale, following the first season’s strong critical response. While no official announcement has been made yet, Sinha and Devaiah are expected to reprise their roles as the police officers at the centre of the series, which marked one of Prime Video India’s most celebrated originals on release.

Further details about the series and a launch window are being kept under wraps for now. Set against the backdrop of a small Rajasthani village, the first season followed Sinha and Devaiah in the role of determined cops tasked with unraveling the mystery of 27 missing women, suspected to be the work of a serial killer.

Dahaad opened to glowing reviews in 2023 and became the first-ever Indian streaming series to premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival, where it competed for the Berlinale Series Award.
