'De De Pyaar De 2' Trailer: Ajay Devgn and R. Madhavan Return With a Battle of Wits and Families

The trailer for De De Pyaar De 2 has been released, signalling the return of Ajay Devgn’s Ashish in a new chapter of the romantic comedy that first hit screens in 2019. The sequel picks up with Ashish entering the home of Ayesha, played once again by Rakul Preet Singh, and encountering a family that’s ready to test his limits.

This time, the story shifts focus from the romantic complications between Ashish and Ayesha to a generational tug-of-war. The trailer introduces R Madhavan as Ayesha’s father — progressive, protective and unafraid of confrontation. In what appears to be the film’s central conflict, Devgn’s smooth, irreverent Ashish squares off against Madhavan’s more grounded, guarded character, setting up a family showdown built on humour and subtle power play.

The ensemble also features Gautami Kapoor, Meezaan Jafri in a new role, and Jaaved Jaaferi, who reprises his part as Ashish’s confidant. Ishita Dutta and Tarun Gehlot round out the cast, suggesting a larger family canvas than the first film.

Director Anshul Sharma, previously creative producer on the 2019 original, makes his directorial debut with this sequel. In a statement, Sharma said continuing the story was “both a privilege and a challenge”, adding that he sought to “capture the same spark while taking the story to new entertaining heights.”

Produced by T-Series and Luv Films, the film leans into familiar romcom tropes, love tested by family, generational differences and unexpected alliances, while hinting at a more emotional conflict than its predecessor.

The original De De Pyaar De was well-received, known for its light-footed humour and Devgn’s charismatic lead. Whether the sequel can replicate that appeal remains to be seen, but the trailer suggests a more ensemble-driven dynamic this time.

De De Pyaar De 2 is slated for a theatrical release on 14 November 2025.
