Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone might reunite for 'King'

It seems like filmmaker Siddharth Anand has finally locked the leading lady of his next: King. Actor Deepika Padukone has reportedly come on board to star in the actioner, which is headlined by superstar Shah Rukh Khan.

King will mark the reunion of Khan and Padukone after films like Jawan, Pathaan, Chennai Express, Happy New Year and Om Shanti Om.

According to a report in Pinkvilla, Padukone has been locked by the makers to feature in an extended cameo in the film, which is gearing to go on floors on May 18. Padukone, who delivered a baby in 2024, was taking time off work to focus on her daughter and family.

The scheduling delays of King, which was earlier supposed to begin filming last year, led the makers to zero in on two other names – Kareena Kapoor Khan and Katrina Kaif, but when everything cleared out and the dates aligned, Padukone was back on board the film, the report read. Padukone is expected to shoot the film for 10 days in October.

King also stars Abhishek Bachchan as the main antagonist and will mark the big-screen debut of Suhana Khan, who was seen in Zoya Akhtar's Netflix film The Archies (2023).

The movie will be Khan's first film since his historic comeback in 2023 with movies like Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki. King is expected to release in the second quarter of 2026. The film also marks the reunion of Khan and Anand after Pathaan, which became the first Hindi film to cross the ₹500 crore mark.
