Dia Mirza and Rahul Bhat to star in a new film

Actors Dia Mirza and Rahul Bhat are set to explore a story of mature love as they come together for Indian-German filmmaker Kanwal Sethi’s next. THR India has learnt that the untitled feature is billed as a love story that aims to be a mature exploration of romance.

Sethi is best known for helming the 2018 romantic drama Once Again, which featured actors Shefali Shah and Neeraj Kabi and followed the story of two middle-aged people, one a famous actor, another a restaurateur, falling in love with each other.

For the yet-untitled project, the filmmaker will turn his intimate storytelling lens and chronicle the realism of contemporary relationships, retaining the lyrical nuances of romance.

While further details about the film, including its title, supporting cast, and release timeline, remain under wraps, insiders suggest the film is being designed as a “poignant, visually rich narrative that will traverse emotional and cultural landscapes.”

The film is being backed by producer-screenwriter Kovid Gupta and Sanjay Gulati’s Crawling Angel Films, which also produced filmmaker Shuchi Talati’s acclaimed Girls Will Be Girls starring Preeti Panigrahi. This will be the first time Bhat and Mirza will be paired on screen.

After winning accolades with Netflix’s Black Warrant earlier this year, Bhat will be next seen in Anurag Kashyap’s Kennedy, which is awaiting an India release following its festival run. Bhat will also be seen in The Wives, directed by Madhur Bhandarkar, and in his international debut, Lost & Found in Kumbh.

Mirza had a packed last few years, featuring in titles like Anubhav Sinha's Netflix series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, Taapsee Pannu-backed feature film Dhak Dhak. This year, she was seen in Netflix’s Nadaaniyan, which marked the debut of Ibrahim Ali Khan. The romantic comedy, backed by Karan Johar also starred Khushi Kapoor, Mahima Chaudhry, Suniel Shetty, and Jugal Hansraj among others.
